Rest
Word of the Year
I always pick a word of the year. In December, I thought…hmmm I am feeling persistence or perseverance…but in the month of January I wasn’t feeling led to that in my Bible studies. Instead, the word REST kept entering my mind instead. Hebrews 4:1-13; specifically verse 11.
Let us therefore strive to enter that rest (Godly rest), so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. 12: For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
1. Biblical rest is something we should fear missing. Experiencing rest in God is not something that happens automatically-you have to enter into it. Truth possessed, but not practiced turns one into the devil. James 2: 19 “You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!” Knowledge without trust keeps a person unchanged. Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of God.” We must regularly move toward the will of God for our lives.
2. Biblical rest is something far greater than a day off work. You must open the book—apply it—obey it. Philippians 3: 7-9
Rest will be my focus this year. In all aspects of my life. Rest in God, rest in my life & homeschool. I am choosing rest because Christ has done the work and I want to rest in His promises. I hope that you will find rest in Him too.
Blessings to you in 2026,
~Wendy~
